1. Introduction

FastClip.dev ("we," "us," "our") provides a pay-as-you-go video clipping API and browser tool. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our service.

We operate on a privacy-first principle. Video content is processed on-demand and automatically deleted. We do not permanently store your clips or viewing history.

3. Data We Collect

3.1 Account Data

  • Email address - used for authentication, notifications, and support
  • Authentication data - password hash (email/password users) or Google OAuth token
  • Account balance - stored in cents, tracks your pay-as-you-go funds

3.2 Payment Data

  • Stripe customer ID and payment method tokens - we never see or store your full card number
  • Transaction history - deposits, charges, refunds, and signup credits

3.3 Usage Data

  • Job records - source URL, clip parameters (start/end time, format, quality), job status, cost
  • API key metadata - key prefix, creation date, last used timestamp (full keys are hashed and not recoverable)
  • Technical data - IP address, browser type, request timestamps (for rate limiting and security)

3.4 Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not permanently store original videos, processed clips, or your viewing/clipping history
  • We do not collect special categories of data (race, religion, health, biometrics, etc.)
  • We do not track you across other websites

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide the service - process clips, manage your balance, deliver download links
  • Authentication - verify your identity via PocketBase (email/password or Google OAuth)
  • Payments - process deposits and charges via Stripe
  • Transactional emails - send verification, payment confirmations, low balance warnings, and security notices via Resend
  • Security & abuse prevention - rate limiting, fraud detection, enforcing terms of service
  • Service improvement - aggregate, anonymized usage statistics (not individual tracking)

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data for third-party marketing.

5. Video & Clip Processing

When you submit a clip request:

  1. We temporarily download the relevant portion of the source video
  2. We process it according to your parameters (trim, convert, extract audio)
  3. The processed clip is uploaded to temporary storage (Cloudflare R2)
  4. You receive a download link valid for 24 hours
  5. After 24 hours, the clip is permanently deleted from our servers

For AI Analyze requests, no video is downloaded or stored. Only transcript data is processed temporarily to extract timestamps.

FastClip.dev functions solely as a content processing tool, not a content host or distributor.

6. Third-Party Services

We share data with third-party service providers only as necessary to operate the service. These include providers for:

  • Payment processing - email and payment card details
  • Authentication - email and account credentials
  • Email delivery - email address and email content
  • Temporary file storage - processed clip files (auto-deleted after 24 hours)
  • AI analysis - video transcript or audio data for timestamp extraction
  • Social login - email address (if you choose to sign in with a third-party account)

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data - retained while your account is active. Deleted when you delete your account.
  • Transaction records - retained for 7 years after creation for tax and accounting compliance.
  • Processed clips - automatically deleted 24 hours after creation. No exceptions.
  • Job records - retained while your account is active (source URLs, parameters, status). Deleted with your account.
  • Server logs - retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging, then purged.

8. Security

  • All traffic encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
  • API keys stored as bcrypt hashes. We cannot recover your full key
  • Passwords hashed by PocketBase (bcrypt)
  • Stripe handles all card data. We never see or store card numbers
  • Clip download links are pre-signed with 24-hour expiry
  • CORS restricted to our frontend domain
  • Stripe webhook signatures verified on every event
  • Rate limiting on all API endpoints

9. Cookies

We use minimal cookies necessary for authentication (session tokens). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings modal. This permanently removes all your data (except transaction records retained for legal compliance). Remaining balance is forfeited. Deposits are non-refundable.

11. User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to clip the content you submit. FastClip.dev is a video editing tool. You must comply with the terms of service of the source platforms and all applicable copyright laws. See our Terms of Service for full details.

12. Children

FastClip.dev is not intended for use by anyone under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it immediately.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
