1. Introduction

FastClip.dev ("we," "us," "our") provides a pay-as-you-go media processing API and browser tool. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our service.

Uploaded source files and unpinned processed clips are temporary and expire automatically unless deleted sooner. Pinned clips stay in your account until you unpin or delete them, or delete your account. We retain account, job, and transaction records as described below.

3. Data We Collect

3.1 Account Data

  • Email address - used for authentication, notifications, and support
  • Authentication data - password hash (email/password users) or social sign-in token
  • Account balance - stored in cents, tracks your pay-as-you-go funds

3.2 Payment Data

  • Billing customer ID and payment method tokens - we never see or store your full card number
  • Transaction history - deposits, charges, refunds, and signup credits

3.3 Usage Data

  • Job records - uploaded file ID, clip parameters (start/end time, format, quality), job status, cost
  • API key metadata - key prefix, creation date, last used timestamp (full keys are hashed and not recoverable)
  • Technical data - IP address, browser type, request timestamps (for rate limiting and security)
  • Webhook delivery data - registered webhook URLs, delivery payloads, HTTP response codes, and delivery timestamps (for retry logic and debugging)

3.4 Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not keep unpinned source uploads or unpinned processed clip files indefinitely
  • We do not collect special categories of data (race, religion, health, biometrics, etc.)
  • We do not collect or store full payment card numbers

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide the service - process clips, manage your balance, deliver download links
  • Authentication - verify your identity with secure sign-in systems (email/password or social sign-in)
  • Payments - process deposits and charges through secure billing infrastructure
  • Transactional emails - send verification, payment confirmations, low balance warnings, and security notices
  • Security & abuse prevention - rate limiting, fraud detection, enforcing terms of service
  • Service improvement - aggregate, pseudonymous usage statistics

We do not sell your data. We use product analytics and advertising measurement tools, including Meta Pixel, to measure traffic, signups, deposits, and product actions and to improve future marketing. We do not include emails, filenames, clip IDs, API keys, or payment card data in those advertising events.

5. Video & Clip Processing

When you submit a clip or transcript request:

  1. You upload your video or audio file to our temporary storage via a presigned URL
  2. The uploaded file is validated (format, size, duration)
  3. We process it according to your parameters (trim, convert, extract audio)
  4. The processed file is uploaded to storage
  5. You receive a share/download link while the processed file is available
  6. Unpinned processed clips expire after about 24 hours unless you pin them

Pinned clips are stored in your account until you unpin or delete them, or delete your account, subject to your storage quota (10 GB default, additional storage available for purchase).

For transcript requests, we extract transcript text and timing from the uploaded source. Transcript jobs do not create a processed media clip, but the uploaded source remains subject to the temporary upload lifecycle.

For AI Analyze and AI Auto requests, we first attempt to transcribe the uploaded media. If speech is unavailable or too limited, the uploaded video or audio file may be temporarily sent to our AI provider for multimodal analysis so it can use visual content, on-screen text, or non-verbal audio cues to find matching moments. FastClip keeps uploaded source files only as temporary source files until their upload expiry or manual deletion; processed clips follow the clip lifecycle above.

For uploaded files, you upload your own video or audio directly to our temporary storage via a presigned URL. Uploaded files are validated (format, size, duration), can be reused in Clip Studio while available, and are automatically removed after expiry unless you delete them sooner.

FastClip.dev functions solely as a content processing tool, not a content host or distributor.

6. Data Sharing & Processing

We process and disclose data only as needed to operate, secure, analyze, and market the service. The following third-party services are used:

  • Stripe (payment processing) - email and payment card details
  • Google OAuth (social login) - email address, if you choose to sign in with Google
  • Resend (email delivery) - email address and email content
  • Cloudflare R2 (file storage) - temporary source uploads, unpinned processed clips, pinned clips, and account-scoped caption fonts while retained
  • Google Gemini (AI analysis) - video transcript or video/audio data for timestamp extraction
  • PostHog (product analytics) - pseudonymous usage events and session replays with input masking
  • Meta Pixel (advertising measurement) - page views and conversion/product events without emails, filenames, clip IDs, API keys, or payment card data
  • Sentry (error tracking) - anonymized error reports, stack traces, and browser metadata for debugging

We do not sell personal data. Advertising measurement data is used to understand conversions and improve FastClip marketing.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data - retained while your account is active. Deleted when you delete your account.
  • Transaction records - retained only as long as needed for operational, legal, and accounting compliance.
  • Uploaded source files - temporary source files that expire automatically, generally after 24 hours, unless deleted sooner.
  • Processed clips - automatically deleted about 24 hours after creation, unless pinned.
  • Pinned clips - stored until you unpin or delete them, or delete your account. Subject to your storage quota (10 GB default, additional storage available for purchase).
  • Job records - retained while your account is active (uploaded file IDs/source metadata, parameters, status, cost). Deleted with your account.
  • Server logs - retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging, then purged.

8. Security

  • All traffic encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
  • Signed-in browser API access uses secure HttpOnly session cookies
  • API keys stored as one-way cryptographic hashes. We cannot recover your full key
  • Passwords are salted and hashed before storage
  • Card numbers are handled by secure billing infrastructure. We never see or store full card numbers
  • Clip download URLs are pre-signed and regenerated; unpinned clip files expire after about 24 hours
  • CORS restricted to our frontend domain
  • Signed payment webhooks are verified on every event
  • Rate limiting on all API endpoints
  • Server logs retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging (see Section 7)

9. Cookies

We use cookies and browser storage for authentication, security, product analytics, attribution, advertising measurement, and anti-abuse identifiers. Signed-in API sessions are maintained with secure HttpOnly cookies. Product analytics and replay are configured with privacy controls such as input masking. Meta Pixel may use cookies or browser identifiers for page view and conversion measurement.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data (account info, transaction history, and job records — contact us to request an export)
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings modal. This permanently removes account data, pinned clips, and API keys. Limited financial/compliance records may be retained where required by law. Remaining balance is forfeited. Deposits are non-refundable.

If we terminate your account for a Terms of Service violation, the same data deletion applies. You will be notified by email. Remaining balance is forfeited.

11. User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to process the content you submit. FastClip.dev is a media editing tool. You must comply with all applicable copyright laws. See our Terms of Service for full details.

12. Children

FastClip.dev is not intended for use by anyone under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it immediately.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
